One of the things we love most about life in our homes is that there is always something to look forward to. Whether it is a national holiday, a change in season or just a reason to do something a bit different, we like to mark the moments that matter and make sure our residents feel part of it.
Over the course of a year, our homes go through quite a lot! Here is a little look at how we enjoy the seasons at Ochre Care.
Spring
As soon as the weather starts to turn, the gardens come back to life and so does the mood in our homes. Residents who have spent the colder months largely indoors are back outside, and there is something really noticeable about that shift. We also grow our own vegetables across the warmer months, and residents enjoy getting involved when the season gets going.
Summer
Summer brings our annual Summer Fayre, one of the highlights of the year. Stalls, raffles, activities and plenty of food are enjoyed outside in the gardens. Our cooks do a brilliant job of making the most of the warmer months and mealtimes in summer have a real celebratory feel.
Autumn and Halloween
Halloween is taken very seriously at Ochre Care! Our cooks go all out with themed food and our homes are decorated for the occasion. We also welcome Trick or Treaters at Abbey Lea which is always a fun time for everyone!
Christmas
Christmas is a really special time at our homes. Carol singers, Christmas crafting, festive decorations and of course our Christmas raffle. We love to invite special guests and the recent years have welcomed the Rock Choir North Yorkshire and festively dressed mini horses!
Valentine’s Day and Special Occasions
It is not just the big seasonal events that we enjoy. Valentine’s Day, St Patrick’s Day, Mother’s Day, VE Day and plenty of other occasions throughout the year are also marked with celebration. Our cooks regularly put together themed menus and our teams make sure the homes feel festive and fun whatever the time of year.
We think the best care homes are the ones where life feels full of memories, friends and fun. We hope these photos give a little flavour of what that looks like at Ochre Care!
